(2017) Differences in interaction patterns and perception for teleoperated and autonomous humanoid robots. Brains and machines blog (May 22, 2007) īennett, M., Williams, T., Thames, D., & Scheutz, M. CRC Press, Boca Raton, FLīains S (2007) Feeling robot’s pain. Implications for the human-machine teams are discussed herein.Īrkin R (2009) Governing lethal behavior in autonomous robots. For commitment to the technology, communication richness, interdependence, and team focus were all uniquely related to higher commitment. For teaming perceptions, interdependence (higher), synchrony (lower), and team focus (higher) were uniquely related to teaming perceptions. Using linear regression, the current study also examined the unique relationships between the AAT facets and both teaming perceptions and commitment to the technology. Unexpectedly, there were no differences in the interdependence scale between the two narrative conditions. Results demonstrated that all of the scales were reliable, and all but one scale was reported as higher in the high-teaming narrative condition, as expected. Following the narrative, participants responded to psychosocial scales aiming to assess teaming perceptions, commitment to the technology, and the 6 facets of AAT. Using a narrative approach, participants ( N = 300) viewed one of two descriptions created to characterize a high or low teaming technology. Prior research has postulated that 6 facets of autonomous agent teammate-likeness (AAT) are the key factors in shaping teaming perceptions of technology. The current study examined potential dimensions of human-machine teaming as they related to teammate perceptions.

Other pavilions such as the Maldives allow visitors to be a part of the diorama and experience some whimsical fun. It reflects the people in the queue and doesn’t use any external lighting – it simply reflects the light from its surroundings to stand out. For Switzerland, the facade is an acrylic mirror converging towards the entrance of the structure. And if a person places their hand under the railing the speck on the LED would turn red creating a dynamic sculpture. Spain had a central LED sculpture where the specks on the LED screen represents the number of people walking on the downward spiral stairway. These had a lot to offer in terms of human interaction to express creativity. The Luxembourg Pavilion on the other hand is a complex organic enveloping form that makes for a stunning piece of ribbon-like architecture. Throughout the structure the materials used are wooden slats and industrial fabric, and it showcases why it’s one of the happiest countries in the world with the way the government prioritises communities and their needs. The facade of the Finland Pavilion is simplistic and represents a pitched tent – aka the “Snow Cape”. It introduces you to the history, the present and vision of the country in terms of technology, agriculture, trade and its growing global charisma. It has beautifully implemented the most easily available resource of sand to create surfaces to project images and information. Unlike most of the other pavilions that show a lot of projection mapping and complicated technology, structures and information overload, the UAE uses a minimal and simplistic approach from the start. The entire experience within and outside the building is calming. The unmissable structure by architect Santiago Calatrava represents the falcon – the symbol of the UAE. Having visited Expo six or seven times (I can’t quite remember!), I realise the scale of planning that must have been behind the event and have to say my experience as a visitor was seamless. Three districts – Sustainability, Opportunity and Mobility – support the theme, each district having its own pavilion whilst hosting an impressive number of country pavilions that offer an insight into their history, future, culture and innovations. The Fire HD Kids Edition is a tablet that is aimed at a household with not a lot of money to spend. You can read your favorite newspaper and read some manga. You can buy eBooks, audiobooks, apps, movies, television shows and any other core digital content Amazon sells. When you enter the parental password it turns into a quintessential Amazon experience. This tablet is perfect for a household because on one hand you have a unique interface, clearly aimed at kids. It encourages kids to read, with the proverbial carrot being mindless entertainment. I like the fact there can be reading goals, such as read for 2 hours a day and play video games for X hours. Parameters can be defined for the weekday and weekends. There are options to establish when the tablet can be used and when it automatically turns off. There are a number of options that can be employed to keep your kids using the tablet on a respectable level. So you won’t have to worry about any types of apps with micro transactions, there simply aren’t any. Anything accessed via the Freetime interface is completely free. Parents will get one year of Freetime Unlimited with purchase, this gives over 5,000 books, videos and apps. If you have one, or many, they can personalize their app, book and video experiences so they don’t overlap. When you fire (see what I did there again?) up the device for the first time you are presented with the option to register some children profiles. The Fire Kids Tablet has Android 4.4 loaded on it, but since its so heavily skinned you will likely not tell the difference between an older version of Android. This unit has a 3.5mm headphone jack, so you can get them to attach some earphones, when they read the enhanced eBook for the 100th time. If you have been a parent for long, when kids attach themselves to something that makes a lot of noise, it can be frustrating. This makes sense, because they are heavily invested in their Instant Video division, music and audiobooks. It does not exceed the Dolby Audio found on the HDX 8.9, but Amazon consistently delivers the best audio experience on tablets. Speaking of speakers ( see what I did there?) the stereo ones on the back provide some fairly bombastic sound levels. There is ample room for the speakers, Micro USB and power buttons, as to not obfuscate them from easy access. There is a few that will appeal to boys and girls, such as blue, pink and yellow. When you buy the kids tablet it comes with your choice of colors for the rubber protective housing. There is also a rear facing camera with 3 MP and a fairly woeful front facing. Underneath the hood is a quadcore 1.5 GHZ processor, 1 GB of RAM, and 8 GB of internal storage. The colors look rich and vibrant, but it certainly won’t break any barriers in terms of the 216 PPI. It has a seven inch capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 1280 X 800 pixels. The Amazon Fire HD Kids Edition on a fundamental hardware level is the exact same as the Fire HD7. It also has a child proof case that ships with the unit and a two year warranty. This device incorporates a free subscription to Kindle Unlimited, which has thousands of apps, books and movies on a À la carte basis. Amazon has put together their first true true tablet aimed at children with the Fire HD Kids Edition. A couple of strategicly plased holes that I can drill into the case I have now is not. With a quick, one-finger slide, SlideVues patent-pending strap doubles as a secure fingerloop or kickstand for watching videos. Perhaps they would become more popular if they just sold their loops and taught people how to do this to their own cases or if they had more designs, along with a design-your-own option, and with more affordable prices. I do like how they support different causes respective to some designs, but they don't come out with new designs for older phone models. Because I agree, $40 is way too much for a case any 10 year old could make at home. So I ordered a used one on ebay for about 10 bucks, including S&H, just so I could check out what they did and put a loop on a phone with a pattern I absolutely adore instead of a design I'm just settling for in the name of function. I was wondering if I could do the same thing honestly, but didnt know if their cases were recessed in the back in order to give room for the loop ends to sit. I would personally love see Loopy do well but I think they are over priced. I know a lot of people won't have a problem shelling out $40 for a plastic case but I do because I know I can make 5 of them for that price and all I need is my drill and a quick trip to Ross (they sell cheap plastic cases like the ones Loopy uses. Which I tried but they aren't as durable as the ones you get from Loopy. I would have bought another when the first one was gaffeled by my girlfriend accept I did exactly what you did and made one for about $7 and this is using the band purchased from loopy case. Again IMHO I think if they sold these at $20-$25 they would sell a ton more. However, $40 I a bit steep for the plastic case you get IMHO. I ordered a loopy case when they were in kickstart.
